From humble beginnings on the farm, Don's upbringing was shaped by his parents, who exhibited extraordinary resilience. In 1945, during the polio epidemic, his mother, Marilyn, contracted polio in second grade, resulting in paralysis in her legs. Remarkably, she triumphed over adversity, relearning to walk with the help of a cane. His father, Louis, a farmer and logger, faced his own challenge. A farming accident in 1969 left him blind in both eyes. Despite their disabilities, Don's parents refused to let challenges dictate their lives, instilling in him a determination to overcome any obstacle.

After his father's farming accident, the family relocated 250 miles south to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At the age of 6, Don expressed his intention to return to the farm someday. Following his graduation from Milwaukee Technical Trade High School in 1982, Don fulfilled his childhood promise and returned to the 5th generation family farm in north-central Wisconsin. In 1986, he transformed the old dairy barn into the location of Total Saw Solutions.

With nearly half a decade of machinist experience behind him in 1986, Don connected with a diverse customer base in the Northwoods. Total Saw Solutions rapidly gained recognition for its custom design work, serving both large and small corporations.

Amidst collaborating with an industrial company on a gang saw ripping application, Don identified a crucial need for professional woodworkers to maximize wood yield. Fueling his determination, he delved into the realm of ultra-thin carbide-tipped saw blades. After extensive research and hard work, he proudly introduced the first-ever 10-inch 1/16" Micro-Kerf table saw blade. The Micro-Kerf table saw blade not only earned the prestigious 2012 Wood Magazine Innov8 Award but also positioned Total Saw Solutions as a leading manufacturer of ultra-thin carbide-tipped saw blades. This innovative stride has propelled Total Saw Solutions to the forefront of the industry, captivating the attention of woodworking enthusiasts and professionals alike.
